The block is designed for convenient booking by delegates who require the full days rather than the half days, and all courses may be booked as standalones.
DELEGATES MUST PROVIDE DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE OF PRIOR CERTIFICATION IN ORDER TO ATTEND THIS COURSE.
This 1- day course aims to make students aware of the dangers inherent in survival situations. Students will update their knowledge of life saving equipment and survival techniques and be reminded of the importance of onboard emergency drills and exercises. This is an ideal opportunity for students to see and use a life raft in a wet environment.
On successful course completion, candidates will be able to:
Understand the main types of maritime emergencies
Identify and use survival equipment during a maritime emergency
Understand the principles of survival during a maritime emergency
Know how to abandon ship during a maritime emergency
Know how to survive in the water during a maritime emergency
Know how to use a survival craft during a maritime emergency
Note: If the required onboard training has been completed and a signed self- declaration is submitted, the half-day version of the course may be attended.
This 1 day practical course takes place at our dedicated Fire Training centre, and includes:
Correct use of portable and mobile fire extinguishers
Correct use of hoses, nozzles and hose equipment
Extinguish different types of fire as member of a fire team.
Test and use Breathing Apparatus and associated equipment.
Overalls and protective clothing will be provided, but it is recommended that you bring suitable lightweight working clothes (i.e. socks, shorts and t-shirts) with you.
This 1 day course is designed to remind candidates of the dangers faced in emergency situations and the knowledge and confidence to take charge of the launching and management of survival craft, both during and post abandonment.
On successful course completion, candidates will be able to:
Take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch
Manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship
Use location devices, including signalling apparatus and pyrotechnics
Apply first aid to survivors.
The Centre will supply wet weather gear and appropriate PPE, students should bring suitable working gear.
