Seafarers seeking to update their existing STCW Survival Craft and Rescue Boat Training certification.
Candidates must be aged 16 or over and hold a Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats This course contains some exercises that are physically demanding; any candidate in doubt about their fitness for such a course should consult their doctor prior to attendance.
Candidates will need to bring with them proof of identity (Passport, Seaman’s Discharge Book or other National Identification). Proof of completion of the Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats course.
This 1 day course is designed to remind candidates of the dangers faced in emergency situations and the knowledge and confidence to take charge of the launching and management of survival craft, both during and post abandonment.
On successful course completion, candidates will be able to:
Take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat during and after launch
Manage survivors and survival craft after abandoning ship
Use location devices, including signalling apparatus and pyrotechnics
Apply first aid to survivors.
The Centre will supply wet weather gear and appropriate PPE, students should bring suitable working gear.
Note: If the required onboard training has been completed and a signed self- declaration is submitted, the half-day version of the course may be attended.
