Seafarers seeking to update their existing STCW Fast Rescue Boat Training certification.
Candidates must be aged 16 or over and hold a Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats certificate. This course contains some exercises that are physically demanding; any candidate in doubt about their fitness for such a course should consult their doctor prior to attendance.
Candidates will need to bring with them proof of identity (Passport, Seaman’s Discharge Book or other National Identification). Proof of completion of the Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats course.
This 1 day course is designed to remind students how to take charge of the launching and management of a fast rescue boat for recovery of an in water casualty, and for the marshalling of survival craft during and post abandonment.
On successful course completion, candidates will be able to:
Control safe launching and recovery of a fast rescue boat
Handle a fast rescue boat in prevailing weather and sea conditions
Use communication equipment between the fast rescue boat, a helicopter and a ship
Use the emergency equipment carried
Carry out search patterns taking account of environmental factors
The Centre will supply wet weather gear and appropriate PPE, students should bring suitable working gear.
Note: If the required onboard training has been completed and a signed self- declaration is submitted, the half-day version of the course may be attended.
