Candidates must be 16 years or older and will need to bring with them proof of identity (i.e. Passport/National Identification).
One of the basic safety training courses under STCW, for persons who would like a career on board ship. The course aims to contribute to the enhancement of maritime security through heightened awareness, recognising security threats and understanding the need security awareness and vigilance.
The course covers the following:
Why shipboard security is important, and the roles and responsibilities of the organisations and individuals involved.
What constitutes security risk, threat and vulnerability to the ship, its personnel, cargo and operations.
The capabilities and limitations of security methods, equipment and systems
How to maintain the measures in the Ship Security Plan and related requirements
Able to maintain the effectiveness of security arrangements, procedures and equipment at the three security levels, taking into account their limitations.
The course will enable those undergoing training to put into practice techniques and procedures for maintaining the security of the vessel through role-play, simulation and scenario-based training.
