This course aimed at anyone whose work requires them to enter or carry out work in enclosed or confined spaces, and can be adapted to include specific company requirements and policies and thereby enhance continuity and safety.
This course is predominantly intended for persons who need to enter or work in enclosed / confined spaces where there is a potentially hazardous working environment. It would also benefit Managers, Supervisors, Engineers etc. (who may have needed to control work in these locations) as an addition to the Confined Spaces Risk Assessors Course. All delegates should be physically fit, as an entry exercise will be carried out.
This course can, if required, be adapted to include specific company requirements and policies and thereby enhance continuity and safety.
As well as the maritime directives, this course will also fulfil the legal requirement of employers as defined by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
The course covers the following:
Identify the relevant regulations for enclosed/confined space working.
Recognise potential dangerous enclosed/confined spaces.
Recognise the reasons we avoid entry to a confined space.
How to complete a typical Permit to Work for enclosed space entry.
How to carry out the safe testing of an atmosphere, including the testing, calibration and maintenance of test equipment.
How to carry out a safe enclosed/confined space entry
How to carry out self-rescue from an enclosed/confined space
How to carry out the role of safety attendant
Identify the training requirements and the selection of personnel for the task;
Analyse the environmental conditions which may affect this work;
Demonstrate the use of this equipment within rescue scenarios.
