Who it is aimed at:

For staff working as part of an organisation’s safety team with responsibility of fire safety and evacuation of staff during workplace emergencies. This course will fulfil the legal responsibility of employers as defined by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. This course can, if required, be adapted to include specific company requirements and policies and thereby enhance continuity and safety.

Entry requirements

Candidates must be age 16 or over.

About this course

This course is intended to give all candidates basic knowledge of fire safety, fire prevention and an understanding of the hazards of fire.

Candidates will understand the need for prompt, safe and correct action to be taken on the outbreak of a fire.

• Chemistry of Fire and Sources of Ignition
• Fire Spread
• Classification of Fires
• Action on Discovering a Fire
• Principles of First Aid Fire Fighting
• Types of Fire Extinguishers
• Fire Warden responsibilities
• Fire prevention and Fire Plans
• Fire Warden actions during drills or emergencies (including Study Case)
• Use of Evacuation Chairs

Assessment

Assessment is by ongoing discussion throughout the course

Qualifications

A North Kent College, Fire Warden Certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course.
