About NMTC

NMTC offers maritime short courses including a full range of MCA-Approved STCW courses including Sea Survival Techniques, Survival Craft and Rescue Boat Handling, First Aid, Firefighting, Personal Safety and Bridge Simulator. Our STCW Basic Safety Training course includes the Proficiency in Security Awareness.

Other maritime courses include Maine Engineering, Seamanship and Small Craft Safety and Navigation.

NMTC also offers other shore-based training that includes CCNSG Health and Safety courses, TQUK approved First Aid courses, MCA approved Fire Safety course for Boatmaster Licence and Confined Space Entry Awareness.

Our partnership with Lloyds Maritime Academy offers a range of professional development diplomas in areas including Marine Surveying, Ship Agency, Crew Management, Ship Superintendency, Marine Engineering and Port Management, all available through distance learning.

NMTC delivers the training for a number of apprenticeships in the marine industry through Maritime Studies Qualifications or City and Guilds Qualifications at levels 2 and 3.  

These are delivered as block release, combined with distance learning during sea phases.  Apprenticeship training programmes can be offered to new or existing staff of all ages and large employers can use their Apprenticeship Levy to pay for the training costs.
