Who it is aimed at:
Seafarers seeking to update their existing STCW Personal Survival Techniques certification, who have carried out the requisite onboard drills within the last five years.

Seafarers unable to complete the self-declaration form must complete the full day STCW Personal Survival Techniques course.
Entry requirements
Learners must hold an STCW Personal Survival Techniques certificate and have completed the on-board activities stated in the self-declaration form within the previous 5 years. This course contains some exercises that are physically demanding; any learner in doubt about their fitness for such a course should seek medical advice prior to attending.
Learners will need to bring with them proof of identity (e.g. passport, seaman’s discharge book or other national identification), completed self-declaration form and their previous PST certificate.
Learners do not have to be able to swim, but will be required to carry out drills in the water whilst wearing a lifejacket.
About this course
This half-day course aims to remind learners aware of the dangers inherent in survival situations. Learners will update their knowledge of life saving equipment and survival techniques and be reminded of the importance of onboard emergency drills and exercises. This is an ideal opportunity for learners to see and use a life raft in a wet environment.
On successful course completion, learners will be able to:
