Candidates designated as first aid responders in the workplace.
Candidates must be 16 years or older. The practical aspects of the course can be physically demanding, and students should be free of any condition that would affect their capacity to participate.
The qualification develops learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills in the following areas: roles and responsibilities of the Paediatric First Aider; assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, assisting a casualty who is suffering from major injury and illness, chest injuries, spinal injuries and anaphylaxis. The qualification is delivered as a three-day programme of training and assessment for learners to allow them to be first aiders in the workplace. Theoretical input is backed up by practical exercises and it is important that candidates participate actively if they are to generate the confidence that the course is designed to impart.
A First Aid Manual will be provided.
