About this course

The Safe Manual Handling course is designed for any employee, in any sector of employment (excluding people handling). It provides the knowledge and practical skills and techniques to carry out safe manual handling in the workplace. Learners will be able to apply these skills and techniques to their own work activities and where necessary be able to recognise when this is not possible and therefore need to seek assistance from their employer to achieve safe manual handling.

The course can be delivered either at the college or in the client’s workplace to suit your business and can include the use of clients’ mechanical manual handling aids. It leads to college accredited certification.

The course has a mixture of theoretical knowledge, demonstrations of how to warm up the body for physical activity, and opportunities to practice handling techniques.

Assessment

The course is assessed by observation of correct handling techniques and a multi choice answer assessment paper, requiring candidates to read and select correct answers from options presented to them in the questions.

Qualifications

A North Kent College, Safe Manual Handling Certificate is awarded to successful candidates.
